This fund was set up to allow stallions, standing
outside the Breeders' Cup and EBF areas, to make contributions,
which then allow the stallions' progeny to be nominated
to the
EBF or to BCL, or to both.
The proceeds of stallion contributions were shared between
EBF and BCL, whilst the nomination fees for foals/yearlings
are retained by the organization to which they are paid. |

The Common Fund ceased to exist after 31st December 2010, following the decision by Breeders’ Cup to terminate the BCL/EBF Agreement.
As a result, stallions based anywhere in the world, but outside of the “EBF Area” are able to register directly with the EBF for the Covering Season of 2011 and thereafter.
For information on nominating a stallion to the EBF, please visit our Registration of Stallions page.
Foals of 2009, 2010 and 2011 by Common Fund stallions can still be registered with the EBF as in the past. Please see the Nominations to EBF page for more information.

BENEFITS OF OWNING AN “EBF NOMINATED” HORSE:
|
- An EBF Nominated horse is eligible to enter the
EBF race programme throughout Europe for its entire racing
career.
- The majority of maiden two-year-old races in Great Britain, Ireland,
France, and Germany are programmed for EBF eligible horses. EBF
supported races offer enhanced prize money.
- More attractive to potential purchasers – If being sold as a yearling
at one of the major public auctions in Europe or the USA, an EBF eligible
sales entry will have “EBF Nominated” printed on the catalogue
page.
|
- 2yo “Breeze-Ups” and 3 & 4yo National Hunt store horses
are also listed as “EBF Nominated” in major European sales catalogues.
- Extra earning power – in addition to the extensive two-year-old
programme, the EBF continues to support more races for older horses,
fillies and mares.
- In Great Britain and Ireland, there is also a significant programme
for jumping-bred horses. France also programme EBF jump races.
