BENEFITS OF OWNING A HORSE BY AN EBF STALLION:
|
- A horse by an EBF stallion is eligible to enter the
EBF race programme throughout Europe for its entire racing career.
- The majority of maiden two-year-old races in Great Britain, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy are programmed for EBF eligible horses. EBF
supported races offer enhanced prize money.
- More attractive to potential purchasers – If being sold as a yearling at one of the major public auctions in Europe or the USA, an EBF eligible sales entry will have “EBF Nominated” printed on the catalogue page. (2yo “Breeze-Ups” and 3 & 4yo National Hunt store horses are also listed as “EBF Nominated” in some European catalogues).
- The breeder of a horse by an EBF stallion may also earn EBF Breeder’s Prizes when that horse wins an EBF supported race (subject
to the EBF terms and conditions operating in that particular EBF country).
|
- Extra earning power – in addition to the extensive two-year-old programme, the EBF continues to support more races
for older horses, fillies and mares.
- In Great Britain and Ireland, there is also a significant programme
for jumping-bred horses. France and Italy also programme EBF jump races.
- Any foal by an EBF stallion is eligible to be nominated to the Breeders’ Cup so that it can “enter and run” in the BC Championship Day and the National Stakes Program of races at the lowest entry fee.
- Any foal by an EBF stallion that has not been nominated to Breeders’ Cup as a foal is still
eligible to run in the Breeders’ Cup Championship Day races, but the entry/run fee is three times that required from a BC nominated horse. (It
will not qualify for any part of the Breeders’ Cup prize money offered
in the National Stakes Program.)
